BOOK CHAT: January 2018 in Review

The New Year hit, and I had high hopes to get back into blogging on a regular basis.  Then, I got sick and then, sick again.  Then, my son got the crud.  Then, my husband.  Then, I took a fall and I've been hurting ever since.  It's been a few weeks, but now I'm back and I'm ready to write!  And, what better place to start than a quick round-up of the first month of the year.  I'm slimming these posts down a bit this year, so you will see more focus on the reading and the pictures than anything else.

Let's start with the TOP PIC.  This little pic was from Bout of Books.  I didn't make it through all of these books because of the said sickness above, but I can't complain.  I actually had a pretty good month of reading, considering.

Let's take a look at the BOOKS READ in January:
  1. Black Panther #1:  A Nation Under Our Feet by Ta-Nehisi Coates
  2. Dear Martin by Nic Stone
  3. The Dragon of the Month Club by Iain Reading
  4. Thrice the Brinded Cat Hath Mew'd (Flavia de Luce #8) by Alan Bradley
  5. Etiquette and Espionage (Finishing School #1) by Gail Carriger
  6. Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris
Of all those amazing books, Dear Martin by Nic Stone was my FAVE BOOK by far.  If you haven't read this book yet, do it.  It is so good!!

FEBRUARY has a lot going on.  I'm hosting a month of books in China over at Book Bloggers International.  It's a short month filled with lots of activities for my family.  The most amazing thing has already taken place though, and it's going to be a tough one to beat.  Just a few days ago, I became an auntie for the very first time.  I had no idea that becoming an auntie would be so amazing, and I can't wait to meet this sweet little girl in the near future.  No matter what happens this month, I will just keep checking out those pictures and know that I have so much to be thankful for.

YOUR TURN:  How was your January?  What do you have planned for February?  Any bookish events that I need to have on my radar?

  1. Sorry you’ve been sick. It’s bad enough getting sick once but twice? Yuck!

  2. Congrats on becoming an auntie! It's such fun to have extra little kiddos to spoil. :)
My February reading is not going well because of the stupid crud. I travelled on the first weekend of the month and caught this on the trip home. I've been sick for like 9 days now and I'm so ready to feel normal again. I just keep telling myself that at least it's not the flu. :P

    1. Kristen M. ... Ugh! I hope you are feeling better. We were supposed to go visit that sweet little niece of mine, but my husband was sick. We decided to stay away for a bit longer.

  3. I can relate to the fall. I took a fall nearly two years ago now and the damage it did to my neck is still an issue and sometimes even affects my speech since I felt right on my face. I hope you are better from ALL of it now.
