Reading has been slow this month. I haven't really been able to fall into a book like I usually do, and I'm feeling like I'm in a bit of a rut. I've fallen into a comfort read of a little Sherlock Holmes here and there. I'm continuing to read A Wrinkle in Time with my kids before the movie is released. And, I'm currently listening to China Dolls by Lisa See every now and then. Even my audiobook time is taking a toll these days. Where did the days go that allowed me to read for extended periods of time without interruption, just to escape into another world? Life is just so busy these days!
Now for the second meaning . . . As I mentioned earlier, I took a pretty good fall while out cross country skiing at the beginning of the month. It left me quite sore, and I've been nursing my back for a couple of weeks now. This week, I finally felt like I was healing and even started working out again tonight. Then. Then things took a turn that I am not happy about. I wasn't paying attention while walking down my stairs tonight and fell. Down the stairs! Right on my back where I was previously hurting! My only thought while I was curled at the bottom of the stairs, my family bombarding me with questions about if I was okay . . . You have got to be kidding me!! So now, I lay in bed with heat on my back and pain relievers starting to work their magic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm able to move tomorrow morning!
In other news, I went to Black Panther this last weekend. I went in with some pretty high expectations. I have been looking forward to this movie since I heard that it was coming out. My whole family was pretty pumped, and I must say that it lived up to my expectations and more. I am not usually one to see a movie more than once in the theaters, but I want to go back and see this movie again on the big screen. It was so good!! In the meantime, maybe I need to pick up a little Black Panther comics to tied me over until this reading rut is gone?! Actually, for tonight, I'm just gonna stick with my heat and pain relievers, and hope I fall asleep soon.
YOUR TURN: What are you reading these days? Wanna guess the one movie I have been to in the theaters more than once?
I am a habitual "faller" so I feel your pain in more ways than one. I've found that I am now too careful which causing me to fall down even more.ReplyDelete
If you need a book to fall back into, I reviewed Best Day Ever today. While it's not a perfect read, I guarantee you won't be able to put it down.
Ti ... I am so glad I am not alone! I'm naturally a bit clumsy, but the injuries get worse as I get older!! I will check out Best Day Ever though. Sounds good!Delete
Oh I’m so sorry. That’s awful. There’s nothing like injuring and injury. I hope you heal quickly and that something catches your reading interest. Maybe those Black Panther comics will do the trick.ReplyDelete
Jenny ... Thank you! I'm feeling better, but I'm a bit bruised and sore. I probably will be for a while!Delete
This month has been a slow reading month for me as well. I’ll be lucky if I can finish one book before the month is up.ReplyDelete
I’m so sorry about your back! That sounds awful. Hopefully you recover quickly!
Tasha B. ... Thank you! February is not usually a slow month of reading for me, but it is definitely proving to be so in 2018. Oh well! There's always next month to catch up!Delete
That second fall sounds exactly like something that would happen to me! Ugh. I'm so sorry!ReplyDelete
I just spent two weeks with a cold that made it near impossible to read and it was the worst. I'm finally getting back into it with an audiobook of The Whispering Skull (you would probably really like this series too - Jonathan Stroud, starts with The Screaming Staircase) and some Black History Month reads. I really need my DWJ March/MarchMagics to start though to fully get back into my reading groove!
Kristen M. ... I'm such a klutz!! Thankfully, I'm feeling better and start some physical therapy tomorrow. I'm hoping this kicks me back into gear.Delete
I think I'm gonna try to participate with you in March. I have never read any Pratchett. I don't even know if I spelled the name correctly! But, you do tend to have lots of wonderful recommendations that I know are right up my alley!!
