Wordless Wednesday: The Gallows

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

Pulling another photo from the archives this week to bring you another view from Bannack, Montana; this time it is the gallows.  They really need no explanation.  The picture and history say it all.

For more Wordless Wednesday selections, check out the dedicated blog.

Besides cemeteries (like last week) and gallows, do you find yourself drawn to photographing the morbid?

  1. I'm not a big fan of morbid; as a nurse, I've seen my share. But I don't find cemeteries morbid in the least.

    Is that truly a gallows?

I like the contrast between the wood and the sky, which is lovely.

    1. NC Sue ... I actually added my link in time this week! Woohoo!!

This is truly the gallows from Bannack. I actually this is a replica because the original was destroyed by vandals. Sadly, this was not an uncommon site in Montana, especially with the history of the road agents and vigilantes.
