Monday Maunder: October in Review & RIP Wrap-Up

I'm back!!!!!

Last week, you may have noticed that I was not really here!  I was traveling to Seattle for a little philanthropy project I do on the side.  I used to be a part of this group a few years ago, but took some time away for a multitude of reasons.  After much thought and persuasion, I have decided to return, and hence, my trip to Seattle.

The day after I returned from my trip, I ended up sick, sick, sick, and so I was in bed and at the doctor's office.  I have been feeling pretty crummy for a while now, so I'm hoping that maybe all those tests will allow me to figure out what is going on and get me to feeling better once again.

But, that's enough about my week, let's move into the month of October!  It was a better month than September in both blogging and reading, and I finally feel like I'm getting into the groove.  Here are the details . . .

The TOP POST for the month was actually THREE top posts!  My Wordless Wednesday contribution of The Lonesome Tree of Death received the most hits, BUT my review of A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness as well as my Monday Maunder: Readathon Results & September in Review received the most comments.

The TOP PIC for the month was a bit of shocker.  I think it shows just who my followers are over on Instagram.  What do you think?

Finally, my BOOKS READ . . . Instead of just one book read last month, I read THREE books this month!  I will take the improvement, especially considering I really enjoyed two out of the three of them.
  1. Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
  2. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
  3. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Also, before I complete the wrap-up for October, I have to mention my results for the R(eaders) I(mbibing) P(eril) Challenge.  I didn't get near as much read as I was hoping for, but I did get two books read and at least one movie watched.  The books were The Haunting of Hill House which I really enjoyed as well as Ghosting by Edith Pattou (you can view my unique review of this one here).  I also finally got to watch the new Godzilla.  I went into this one with pretty low expectations (I tend to love the originals!), but was pleasantly surprised with the graphics and direction they took with it.  I definitely recommend it!

Okay, that's it!  Time to look forward to November!  A few extra days off work.  Participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  Thanksgiving with family for the first time in years.  LOTS of good things coming!

How was your October?  Did you participate in RIP?  How did you do?

  3. Sick is no good. :P I hope you're feeling better soon and I'm glad that you were well while you were here.
We watched Godzilla tonight and I really liked it too. I loved the small cheer that went up for him at the end.
