Can you believe it is already September?!?
Reading has exploded this week! I am normally a monogamous reader, but in the last week or so my reading has become a bit polygamous. At this very moment, I have FOUR books going at once! Yikes! Let's break down the reading for the week . . .
I finished More Montana Campfire Tales: Fifteen Historical Narratives by David Walter. I then started reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. I am still reading The Hobbit with my son and expect to finish it this week. I am listening to The Help by Kathryn Stockett. And finally, I started reading The Shining by Stephen King (a re-read) for Charleen & I's readalong ... or what we are calling the #shinealong!! I have a stack of books to choose from next, but I will post more about that tomorrow!
What is on your reading agenda these days?
I posted two reviews this last week: And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini and A Tale of Time City by Diana Wynne Jones. However, the most exciting news on the blog is the kick-off of The Shining Read-along and the announcement of the upcoming Doctor Sleep Read-along (or the sequel to this horror classic)!!
Will you be joining in on some Shining fun?!?
Sit Down & Write 4. I posted my goals earlier, but wanted to share the current status of these goals now that we are half-way through the challenge. The first half of the week went fairly well, but the second half was pretty unproductive. Here is where I currently stand . . .
- Catch up on reviews. I have scheduled and posted 11 items for this blog, 2 of them being items that I had not yet written prior to the start of the challenge.
- Freelance. I have begun very initial research and information gathering on this goal. This will be my focus for the first half of this week.
- Journaling. Nothing here. I hope to get into a schedule this week.
- Novel Writing. Nothing here yet either. This will be the focus the second half of the week ideally.
A large chunk of my writing time was cut into this last week because of a heat advisory resulting in early release every day. The temps are anticipated to be much cooler and I anticipate to be hitting the library for more focused time!
If you are participating in Sit Down & Write 4, how are things progressing for you?
The big news here is that we traveled back to Saint Louis for a portion of the weekend to prep our old house to go back on the market. We visited with friends for a bit, but most of the time was spent meeting with our new realtor, cleaning up the yard, performing minor repairs, and basic cleaning around the house. Who knew that I would be so sore from all this cleaning?!? The house goes live this week, so please keep your fingers crossed that this time around we are more successful!
Do you have any big, exciting, or mundane news coming from your neck of the woods?
