A Blog Face-Lift

As I mentioned briefly yesterday in Hello 2013!, I will be spending the month of January re-vamping this site.  I have had a number of improvements that I have been wanting to make and it is time that I do so.  Some of these have been sitting on my to-do list for a couple of years.  Others are new to the list.  All will be worked on and hopefully, accomplished by month-end.

THINGS TO DO

Back-Up Blog.  It's been a while!

Update sidebar content.  Some have not been updated since I started this site and others are no longer valid or current.

Revamp top menu.  I don't even want to admit how out of date these links are.  New items will be coming.  Old items will be going.  It needs to be desperately cleaned up.  Pages are a very good possibility to replace the current old-school links.

Update my alphabetical index.  This one I've been saying I am going to do for years.  I will be changing this up drastically.  I may not even keep it.

Update review policy.  This is just messy and old.

Update contact information.  List all social media sites.

Re-evaluate weekly/regular posts and features (i.e., Monday Maunder, Foto Friday, book reviews, discussion posts, freelance pieces, fairy tale focus).

Investigate statistical trackers and make changes as necessary.  Recommendations welcome!

Update photo consistently across social media platforms.

Create new button art (since all or most were lost in the computer crash of 2012).

Re-evaluate blog settings (i.e., commenting in particular).

DISCLAIMER:  This is a working list and I reserve the right to make changes to it at any time!

I will share updates throughout the month with how I am progressing on this list.  Book reviews and discussions will be minimal during this time.

Do you have any recommendations or thoughts for my construction project this month?  Would you like to see something different or an old feature renewed?  Or, is there something that you think needs to remain with no changes?  Feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. I marvel at your goals since, although I have a blog, I don't understand half of what I can do on it. You go girl!

  3. Good luck with your updates! Sad to say that it's been awhile since I backed up my blog too. Need to do that! As for trackers, I have several and they all give me different numbers! Ha! PMetrics seems to be well respected, and Google analytics is good too. Have fun!

    1. Alexia561 ... Thank you! I just backed up my blog a couple of days ago and it is so easy. I don't know why I avoid it so much!! And, thanks for the ideas on trackers! I will check out both of those!

  4. Just FYI (to make you feel a bit better), I checked the other day because I knew I was behind on adding my reviews to the top tabs and tried to figure out where I need to start to add them all on the lists. ... March 2010. Yikes! That's my main blog-related project for the beginning of the year. :)
