Fire and Ice by Robert Frost

I recently read this poem at the beginning of Stephanie Meyer's Eclipse, and I could not help but comment on it! I used to read a LOT of poetry and this was one of my favorites as a morbid teenager in my awkward years!! :) I still read poetry every once in a while and even write it now and then, but it's just not as depressing these days! Before I say anymore, I will duplicate it here for you . . .

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Robert Frost

Isn't this the perfect fitting poem for the story of The Twilight Saga? But, one question comes to mind . . . Frost chose fire over ice. Bella choses ice over fire. What does that say about Bella when you consider the hate aspect? She is far from a hateful person . . . maybe a little selfish at times, but never hateful. I know that this has probably no connection between the two. Afterall, they were written almost a century apart! Whatever the case, a great poem and still very fitting for this particular story!
