Monday Maunder: Cookies, Catch-up, and A Cold

You are probably wondering what kind of title that is!  It really is what my life has been like for the last week.

Cookies ... My daughter started selling Girl Scout cookies this last weekend, so my week was filled with preparation for that and then the actual task of chaperoning my little Daisy as she began selling the cookies.  She is so excited for it this year and it is so much fun to watch!

Catch-up ... Over the last few months, I have gotten desperately behind on writing reviews for the books that I have read.  I have sat my rear in the chair and began getting caught up.  As of this moment, I have written more than ten reviews and am only three reviews behind.  I plan to finish those up tomorrow.  Then, I will be typing them up and scheduling them as early as later this week.  It feels so good to get caught up!

Cold ... I was feeling good about my progress over the last week.  Then, I woke up this morning to a horrible head cold.  NOT how I wanted to start off this week after such a successful one.  I spent most of my day relaxing on the couch, then am going to take some meds and head to bed.  I'm hoping this extra rest and relaxation will help tackle this cold before it knocks me completely down.

Do I have any other highlights from this last week?  I sure do!  I went snowshoeing for the first time over the weekend and had a blast.  I cannot wait to get back to the mountains with a pair of snowshoes on my feet!

Last, but not least, I had better share my current reads.  I am currently listening to the Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford.  It is not what I expected when I first started listening to it, but I am really enjoying it.  I am only pages away from finishing The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman.  Another book that I am enjoying and bookmarking multiple pages along the way.  Last, but not least, I finally returned to reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with my kids, and of course, I am enjoying it!

Let's hope that the rest of this week is filled with more cookies and finally catching up, but no more head cold.  I am done with being sick.

How was your week?  Do you have any exciting plans for this week?  What are you currently reading?

  4. Hubby has been sick with the flu and then a cold for like the last week and a half. I feel so bad for him but very glad that Z and I haven't caught either one. And I'm impatiently waiting for my local girl scouts to bring those cookies over! ;)

  5. I'm also far behind with reviews that I want to write. After spending most of my work day on the laptop, I've not been in the mood to write reviews on it before or after work, so I've started drafting posts by hand using my favorite fountain pens. It is helping me get back into a groove. Hope you feel better soon!

    1. Chris Wolak ... I do a lot of my writing by hand, which sounds crazy. BUT, I love it. I feel like I can process some things better with pen and paper. And, when I type it, it gets an extra bit of editing, which I think only improves it from its original form.

  6. Sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. This winter has been a rough one as it seems like everyone is getting sick!

Congrats on catching up on most of your reviews! I've been bribing myself to catch-up, which sounds sad & pathetic but works. For every review I write, I get to read another story in Neil Gaiman's new collection. I'll be caught up soon, as I love Gaiman's writing! :)

Hope you have a great week & wake up cold-free!
