Mini Bloggiesta: July 2014

Tomorrow kicks off another quarterly Bloggiesta, this one just a short little weekend stint to work on sprucing up your blog.  I'm in!  I am finally all unpacked and home for a few days and am in desperate need to catch up on all things blog-related.  Here is my list of things that I hope to make a dent in over the weekend . . .

  • Back-up Blog
  • Back-up Template
  • Create Twitter Lists (courtesy of a previous Bloggiesta challenge over at Love at First Book)
  • Organize Book Club Discussion
  • Write & Schedule Reviews (13 are in need of being written, but I may combine a handful of these)
  • Write July Journal Circle
  • Prep Monday Maunder
  • Prep July Literary Link Love
  • Write July Fairy Tale Fridays
  • Catch-up on Blog Reading (my Feedly currently stands at 892)
  • Check Out Mini Challenges
  • Catch-up on Emails (my inbox currently stands at 39)

Realistically, I know that there is no way that I am going to be able to complete all of  these in the two days of this event.  I plan to hop around and do what I can when I can, finishing as much as I can without getting myself burned out or completely ignoring my children.  I will report my results in my weekly Monday Maunder post, among other things since I need to catch up on a few things there as well.

Are you participating in Bloggiesta this weekend?  What are your goals for the mini event?

  1. Great list! Mine is overly long too, especially since I'm supposed to be writing. I didn't even think about backing up.

39 emails? Try over 5000. Ugh! There will be A LOT of deleting.

    1. Just remember that the delete button is your friend! Sort by subject matter, and anything older than 7 weeks that hasnt been chased since gets deleted on the grounds that it wasnt important or you've failed anyway and the world didnt end.

I've come to it late (surprise!) and since this is a mini one, I've tried to keep it short - there's a lot of "do I really need this?" and use of the delete button again! It's all about organising...right?!

    2. Michelle Miller ... OMG!! 5000+ emails?!? I think that would cause me so much anxiety! I had 100+ earlier this week, but spent most of the day cleaning it up and responding to emails before hitting the road again. I am beginning to realize that emails are just a neverending task, like laundry and dishes!

    3. nordie ... That's a really good system, but I personally have issues with simply deleting. I would worry that I would miss something important!!

I'm off to check out your post right now!!

  3. I never seem to do some of the things on your list, like back up blog...famous last words? Am I going to regret saying that?

    1. Creations by Laurel-Rain Snow ... I actually am trying to back up my blog more often than quarterly. I do worry about losing all my content and design. I have heard it happening to others all too often (though it has never happened to me in 7+ years ... knock on wood!).

Off to check out your post right now!
