Last year, I participated in Readers Imbibing Peril (RIP) for the first time, hosted by Stainless Steel Droppings. I enjoyed it so much that I am joining in again this year for RIP VII! What exactly is RIP? In the words of the host, let me tell you more . . .
The purpose of R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII is to enjoy books and movies/television that could be classified (by you) as:
Or anything sufficiently moody that shares a kinship with the above.
I have removed the word “challenge” from this event because it has never really fit. “Challenge” was the lingo back when I first discovered book blogs thus its previous addition to the reading events I host. While I don’t have any personal grudge against folksthemselves to read a certain number of books, or books outside their comfort zone, this event is primarily about the great pleasure that can be found in embracing this type of fiction/non-fiction during this season of the year.
There are two simple goals for R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII
1. Have fun reading.
2. Share that fun with others.
Sounds fun, right?!? This event runs right now until the end of October, so you still have time to join in the fun. In the meantime, let me tell you how I plan to participate.
I am shooting for Peril the Second, meaning I will be reading two books. I would like to shoot for more, but I am in a bit of a reading draught, so I will not push my luck. Here is a quick shot of the books that I will be choosing from . . .
I hope to participate in a read-along for The Passage by Justin Cronin for #tuesbooktalk, but I'm open to my other reads! I will pick up whatever suits my fancy at the time, but I'm really wanting to read a Joe Hill (if you couldn't tell from the choices!).
Are you joining in for a bit of peril this year?!? What are you planning on reading for the season of spooky?
