Pam over at Bookalicious started this fun meme a while ago and I have been wanting to participate for so long. Well, now I finally have the time!!!! So, read on for the 10 books (in no particular order) that I would recommend that you read before you die . . . .
- Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
- Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
- Blindness by Jose Saramago
- The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
- The Stand by Stephen King
- The Giver by Lois Lowry
- Life of Pi by Yann Martel
- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
- Maus & Maus II by Art Spiegelman
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
What books would you recommend I read before I die?
My husband gave me The Life of Pi for Christmas years ago but I still haven't read it. I think because I was annoyed that he picked a book he thought I SHOULD read rather than one of the many he knew I WANTED to read. It sound silly now, but I was really hurt at the time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Think I'll work on a list of my own, but may take awhile if I'm limited to only ten. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of Wicked, but haven't gotten to it yet. Will check out the others on your list.
Thanks!
I've read five on your list -- the Harry Potter series, Wicked, Shadow of the Wind, Life of Pi and The Hobbit. I should work on the other five!
ReplyDeleteIt will take me a while to come up with a list that I think people should read and that they would then actually read. The last time I made a list it was called "intimidating" and "intellectual".
Jill . . . I would definitely recommend it! I read it a few years ago and it has still really stuck with me! It is one that makes you think. In fact, I think I'm going to try re-reading it again in 2010! Maybe we can read it together?!? :)
ReplyDeleteAlexia561 . . . I would love to see your list!! It was hard for me to narrow it down to 10 as well. I actually had more listed, but had to cut it down for the sake of this meme! Oh, and by the way, Wicked is one of my faves!!!
Kristen . . . I think we have a lot of similar reading interests! I'm intrigued to see this intimidating and intellectual list of your's!!! Please, please!! :)
I have read 1, 5, and 8 :D
ReplyDeletePam . . . Well, I highly recommend the others!! If I remember correctly, don't you focus more on YA? If that is the case, I would definitely be steering you more towards The Giver though!! That may be right up your alley and I would love to hear what you think!
