WEEKLY WANDERINGS: Currently Reading . . .

I am really trying to get back into the mode of writing again on a regular basis, so tonight I am popping in to chat about my current reads!  I'm going to keep this short and sweet, so let's get to it!  What am I currently reading?

My current audiobook is The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare.  I could have sworn that I read this book as a kid, but as I listen I think to myself that this is one book that I am sure I would remember.  But, I don't!

My current paperback is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.  I've been working on it for a couple of weeks now, and it is a very slow read for me so far.  I will continue to trudge through it, and I hope that it will eventually pick up.

My current read with my kids is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.  I first read this one as an adult and was not a huge fan.  I'm enjoying it much more with my kids this time around, and can't wait to finish to hit up the movie to see how it compares.

My current read for work is Bold School by Weston Kieschnick.  I'm not far into it, but I probably should be.  It's actually a fairly easy read, but I am just having difficulties in finding the time to read it.

Lastly, I have The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume 1 by Arthur Conan Doyle on my nightstand for when I feel like revisiting a favorite with some of his short stories.

What are you currently reading these days?  Any (non-spoiler) thoughts about my current reads?

  1. I’ve never read A Wrinkle in Time. I want to but figure it won’t be any good because I should have read it as a kid. But who knows. Never Let You Go was slow. I can’t remember if it picks up. Good luck. I was always and forever arguing with my mom about Witch of Blackbird Pond. I loathed it and she loved it but I adored arguing with her. I miss our book “discussions”

    1. Jenny ... Wow! Now I feel like I'm super behind in my reading. Anyways ... I agree with A Wrinkle in Time. I think that's one I would have enjoyed more when I was a kid. I will continue to slog through Never Let Me Go. I will see if I will continue enjoying Blackbird Pond. What did your mom love about it?

  2. I never got into Madeleine l’Engle, either. Just not my style

    1. Tasha B. ... As I mentioned above, it's better this time around ... maybe because I'm reading it with my kids.

  3. I read The Witch of Blackbird Pond for my 100 Chapter Books project but couldn't remember anything about it so I just went and looked up my review. I guess I loved it! I didn't have any complaints.

  4. Your problem with NEVER LET ME GO is that you are reading too many different things all at once. NEVER LET ME GO is a very short book and should be a fairly quick read for you; you should not be trudging through it. This is an excellent book, and you need to pay attention to it and it, alone.
