Readathon Wrap-Ups: High Summer Readathon & #24in48 Readathon

This last week, I had the pleasure of joining in the High Summer Readathon.  When I went in to the week, I had no plan.  My plan was to read what I felt like, when I felt like it.  And, the result was a great success!  I think I need to do this more often, especially for those longer readathons.  I may not do it every time, but I like this more flexible option every now and then.  Now for the results of the week . . .

Sunday

TOTAL MINUTES LISTENED:  1124 MINUTES (18 HOURS, 44 MINUTES)
TOTAL PAGES READ:  639 PAGES

When Friday hit, I was reminded that the #24in48 Readathon was happening over the weekend, and I had signed up to participate in it as well.  Good thing the two readathons overlapped, and they both had such great timing!

You can see the specifics above for each day, but this weekend readathon was more about the amount of time I spent reading.  The ultimate goal is 24 hours, but it is not necessarily required.  I did better than expected on the first day thanks to a painting project and audiobooks.  I was able to get in more than 9 hours of reading in the first 24 hours.  On Sunday, I finished up my painting projects and got in another 5 hours of reading.  That was about a total of 14 hours for the weekend.  Not bad for my first official participation in this event.

Last, but not least, I was able to finish a number of books throughout the week of readathons.  I leave you with the list of completions . . .
  • Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum
  • The Fireman by Joe Hill
  • The Underwater Welder by Jeff Lemire
  • Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian

That's the most reading I've done in a while!!  My reading mojo is officially back!!

Did you participate in the readathons this last week?  How was your reading?

  2. Awesome job, Tif! I'm glad the no plan approach worked well for you. I need to try that some time. Maybe for Bout of Books next month.

Thanks for joining in. I hope to see you in October for FrightFall.
