WEEKLY WORDS: #SchoolsOutRAT Check-In

It's been almost a week since school was dismissed and I was out for the summer.  I decided to celebrate with the School's Out Readathon, and I have had a good chance to read a little here and there, and for a few moments, a good dive into a book for a longer period of time.  I did have one day of training.  I spent one day catching up on some medical needs.  I spent a little time traveling today.  And, I am now left with only one day left of the readathon and a long list of things to do around the house.  Thank goodness for audiobooks and the possibility of multitasking!

I will share the full details of my daily reading, but I thought I would give you a quick check-in with my progress so far.  I have finished The Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian on audiobook, but I really did not have a lot left when the readathon started.  I also finished Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.  I am now in the middle of reading The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin and listening to Landline by Rainbow Rowell.  I also started listening to The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo with my son today on our travels.

What am I hoping to complete in the last leg of the readathon?  I hope to finish the audiobook of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.  I hope to be done or almost done with The Storied Life of AJ Fikry.  I hope to listen to at least a couple more hours of Landline.  I guess we will see how tomorrow goes.  Wish me luck!

How has your reading been going this weekend?

  1. As I guessed, I'm not reading much at all this week as we wrap up school. Although, I'm chaperoning a Family Fun Center trip today for hours and hours so I'm taking my headphones just in case I end up sitting around and want to listen to my audiobook! I think I might have my own little readathon this weekend when I finally have free time. Of course, there's a good chance it will just turn into a sleepathon. ;)

  2. See?! This is why I'm trying to get into audiobooks. I need to accomplish so much that my reading takes a big hit. If I do audiobooks I can clean my house while listening.

    1. Jenny ... Audiobooks are amazing! As of right now, I've listened to about 3 hours worth today alone, in between transporting children and cleaning my garage. I love it!!
