BOOK TALK: May 2016 in Review

I'm back again, and this time I'm officially all caught up on my monthly wrap-ups!  I finished my final class I needed during this month, attended my fabulous brother-in-law's wedding, and have begun preparing for the end of the school year.  Without further ado, I give you the stats for the month of May.

The TOP POST was twofold . . . Call Me Crazy . . . #ArmchairBEA and #BoutofBooks had the most comments, yet #ArmchairBEA:  An Introduction had the most hits.  My numbers in general have been down this year as a whole and that is very much because I have not been posting on a regular basis the entire year.  I'm hoping that with the end of the school year, this will change and I can finally get back into a writing schedule.  In fact, that is my big goal for the summer . . . to get back into writing regularly again.

The TOP PIC was one of my personal favorites because it is my latest stack of books I received from my local library book sale.  As I look at the picture, I realize that it really didn't give the stack justice because you can't see all the books I was able to add to my collection.  But, I promise that it was one of the better hauls I've scored!

The BOOKS READ in May were much better than I expected them to be, and progressively better than the months that have come before.  Overall, it was a good reading month, even despite that I didn't enjoy all of the reads.

  1. What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank by Nathan Englander
  2. Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands by Chris Bohjalian
  3. Spirit Animals #1:  Wild Born by Brandon Mull
  4. Deep, Dark by Jonathan Maberry
  5. Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King
  6. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Choosing a FAVORITE READ this month was another difficult decision.  I'm going to say it was a tie between Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands by Chris Bohjalian and Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King.  They were very different books, but I really enjoyed both of them for very different reasons.

Last, but not least, what is my PLAN for June?  I have big plans because the final day of school is Thursday.  I have a couple of trainings throughout the month for work, but otherwise, I will be off and will be able to re-evaluate my schedule and priorities.  On my agenda is spending time with my kids, getting back in shape, reading lots, writing regularly again, and working on projects around the house.  It sounds like a lot, and it really is, but I plan on trying to dabble a bit in each every single day that I can.  I leave you with just a peek into what my reading plans are.  I have every intention of finishing these two books, catching up on a number of review books that I'm behind on, and then reading whatever suits my mood.  I can't wait!

What was the month of May like for you?  What are you looking forward to this month?

    1. Kailana ... It was really good, and I don't even think I got/understand all the references in it. I think it is one that I will need to re-read after more reading!!

  4. The end of school is a wonderful time to start fresh! I was super distracted in May so I'm hoping for a bit more focus in June. But honestly, if I just end up spending a lot of time chilling and staring off into space with nothing to worry about, that will be just fine too. ;)
