Saga, Volume Four by Brian K. Vaughan

If you have been a reader of Tif Talks Books for a while, you already know that I am a fan of Saga.  If not, you can check out my reviews of Volume One, Volume Two, and Volume Three.  In my latest review, I stated, "Saga is a must-read series that starts strong and just keeps getting stronger."  Volume Four remains in line with that diagnosis.

In Volume Four, life of the two runaway lovers gets real.  They have to figure out how to make a living while raising Hazel, now a toddler.  From finding a job to arranging playdates, Marko and Alana are facing obstacles that may just challenge their relationship unlike anything else before.

This volume took me a bit by surprise.  The challenges of every day life intertwined with the (un)usual Saga drama made for a read all in one sitting.  My only disappointment is that I have to wait for the next installment, and I simply don't want to with the ending that leaves me hanging.

Before I close up my thoughts on the latest volume of Saga, I must comment on the illustrations.  I simply do not compliment the art and imagination enough of Fiona Staples.  The diversity in the characters, the detail of each individual panel, and the colors are some of my favorites I have ever seen.

The combo of Vaughan and Staples is perfection!

Are you as hooked as I am with Saga?  What are some of your favorites of the series?

  2. Fiona Staples is so great. I want her to be the artist for All the Comics for a little bit. Her work is incredibly beautiful, and I love how derangedly inventive she is with all the aliens. Saga wouldn't be Saga without her.

    1. Jenny @ Reading the End ... I completely agree! Do you know if she illustrates more? Because I need to check them out if she does!
