Moving Books(es): Suey from It's All About Books

Welcome back to another edition of Moving Books(es)!

While I am in the midst of moving boxes from one state to another and getting settled in my new home, I have a handful of fabulous fellow bloggers stopping by to share their moving books(es) ... books that they feel have moved them in one way or another. Today, I am excited to welcome one of my fave bloggers, Suey of It's All About Books!  Read on to get a great list of books to add to your TBR pile!

Books That Moved Me

Somehow I tend to think of “moving” books as sad books. But really, they are simply books that made me feel, which is a lot of books! Here’s a few that came to mind instantly.

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls: I always forget about this book, but it really should be at the top of all the lists!

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this book’s ending KILLS me!

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini: The emotions this book brought up for me will never be forgotten.

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski: I couldn’t put this book down! It’s an intensely emotional one.

A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park: I really don’t remember much about the details of this book, except for the fact that it moved me to tears. I need to re-read!

The Fault in our Stars by John Green: Okay, seriously. Does this book need any more hype lately? But still, it’s moving, so it’s on my list!

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck: Oh my word, this story kills me!

Life of Pi by Yann Martel: Another book whose ending made me crazy with emotions.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak: Of course this book is on this list! Of course!

Seriously, I could go on and on here! I mean, why even read if you aren’t moved by books, know what I mean? So pretty much ALL of them move me in some way.

Thank you so much Suey for sharing a great list of books!  It has been forever since I have read The Good Earth (which I remember loving) and The Grapes of Wrath (which I really didn't care for), but I'm thinking I need a re-read of both of these one of these days!  And, The Fault in Our Stars has been sitting on my shelf unread for far too long!

  2. Suey, what a great list! Though I have here The Fault in Our Stars and The Book Thief, I still haven't gotten to read them *sigh* Have heard of several others on your list and not of a few. BUT, I do own Where the Red Fern Grows, which I first read back in '95 when my son's 4th grade teacher recommended it. I sobbed! AND I have A Single Shard which I purchased and read prior to a small gathering at which Linda Sue Park was doing a presentation. She's wonderful! I also read A Long Walk to Water for that and love them both! She does great work all around :)

    Thanks for sharing, Suey :)

  3. Great list! I have a copy of The Fault Is Our Stars, but haven't gotten up the courage to read it yet because so many people have told me I'll be bawling my eyes out in no time. I decided I need to wait until I need a good cry, but it never seems to be the right time. Sad to say that I hated The Grapes of Wrath when it was required reading for high school. Thank goodness for Cliffs Notes! lol
