Monday Maunder: Readathon Results & April in Review

Happy, Happy Monday!

I've got lots to chat about this week, so let's get to it!

Spring Into Horror Readathon

Last week, I shared with you that I was participating in the Spring Into Horror Readathon, a week-long event spanning Monday thru Sunday.  I did not get as much read as I was hoping for.  I ended up spending time on the phone trying to arrange housing options for when I move next month.  Then, I flew out to the Big Sky Country to look at these said houses.  And, I'm not a morning person, so I did not get as much reading done on the flight home because I slept on my flight that left at 6 AM!  Anyways, I leave you with my stats for the week . . .

Pages Read:  971 pages
Hours Listened: 1.5 hours
Books Completed:  4 books

Titles of Completed Books:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid #8:  Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney
Tommysaurus Rex by Doug TenNapel
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
Sleep Donation by Karen Russell (audiobook)

Still Reading:
Sookie Stackhouse #1:  Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

When it comes down to it, I declare the week successful!  My favorite part about the week though is that I think we have found a place to live after we move and we have a back-up if we need it.  Woohoo!!

April in Review

Now, let's take a quick peek into the highlights of the month of April!

The TOP POST of the month was two-fold.  According to the most hits, it was my review of the new release by M.P. Kozlowsky, The Dyerville Tales.  However, my kick-off post for Dewey's Readathon received the most comments for the month.

The TOP PIC of the month was my stack of readathon reads for Dewey's Readathon.  Are you seeing a pattern here?!?  The readathon was a big hit, as usual!!

And, here is my list of COMPLETED BOOKS for the month of April:

  1. Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones
  2. The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh
  3. The Dyerville Tales by M.P. Kozlowsky
  4. Runaways #2:  Teenage Wasteland by Brian K. Vaughan
  5. Runaways #3:  The Good Die Young by Brian K. Vaughan
  6. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
  7. Chew #2:  International Flavor by John Layman
  8. Chew #3:  Just Desserts by John Layman
  9. Chew #4:  Flambe by John Layman
  10. Diary of a Wimpy Kid #5:  The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney
  11. Diary of a Wimpy Kid #6:  Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney
  12. Diary of a Wimpy Kid #7:  The Third Wheel by Jeff Kinney
  13. Diary of a Wimpy Kid #8:  Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney
  14. Tommysaurus Rex by Doug TenNapel
Lots of good quick reads this month, which puts me ahead of my reading schedule for the year!!

Currently Reading

I leave you with my current reads . . . My audiobook is The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker.  My current physical book is Sookie Stackhouse #1:  Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris.  And, finally I am in the midst of reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling with my kids.

Did you participate in the readathon?  How did you do?  How did your April go for you?  What are you currently reading?

  2. Did participate, it was so much fun!! Completed 5 books for the RaT, 16 books total for the month of April. Not my best, I was averaging closer to 20 books a month last year, but I didn't have all my new video games that I've had the last 6 months. :) Currently I am reading The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly (meh so far) and listening to Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.

    1. Karsyn Smith ... Great job on the reading for the RaT and for the month of April!! I really liked The Book of Lost Things, but it was all because of the ending! The ending completely made up for the rest of it! And, I really need to re-read Inkheart and then finish this series!

  4. Sounds like an amazing month! I didn't do as much reading in April as I'd have liked, but I still got through some good books. I'm looking forward to May! I can feel myself coming up on yearning for lots of slightly trashy YA novels. :D

    1. Kimberly Lynne ... Unfortunately, the new place is no longer there! Even all of our back-ups have fallen through. I need to get lost in some more quick reads to get my mind off the stress of this housing situation!
