Monday Maunder: Readathon Wrap-up and Random Thoughts

As I mentioned last week, I participated in the Winter's Respite Readathon this last week hosted by Michelle of Seasons of Reading.  I had high hopes for the week, but other plans were on the agenda for me.  I came down with something horrible and ended up in bed most of the week.  When I was awake, I did get in a bit of reading, but most of it was spent just lying on the couch watching TV.  I am glad to report that I am feeling better today finally, the first day in almost a week where I woke up feeling like I actually had energy!  The readathon was not a complete flop though.  I did finish reading The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton and started reading The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.  Between the two books, I did get in a total of 310 pages.  That's better than it could have been and I will take it as a success considering the circumstances!

Other random thoughts . . .

Who was watching Season 3 of Sherlock?!?  Did the ending of the season just throw you for a loop?!?  I adored this season as a whole, laughed more than the other seasons, and was once again left completely satisfied.  My question is how long are we going to have to wait this time for more?!?  In the meantime, I will definitely be reading more of Doyle's work to tide me over!

Remember how I mentioned that I got roped into being an assistant coach for my son's basketball team?  Well, so far, I have to say that I am loving it!  These boys are really teaching me how much I used to love this game.  I love seeing their successes and how much they have already improved in just a few short weeks.  I can't wait to see what more the season will bring!

This week starts my daughter's first year selling Girl Scout Cookies!  Between that and the basketball coaching, life is going to be crazy these next 6 weeks or so . . . . exciting, but definitely chaotic!

Did you participate in the readathon?  How was your reading this last week?  Any thoughts on Sherlock?  Any big plans for the week?

  1. Girl scout cookies! Yay! And Sherlock. Yes, I think I loved it more this season than any other. I just wish they could be longer than three episodes. So sad. Great TV. Amazing TV. Good luck with everything! (Did you get my guest post today? I hope?)

    1. Suey ... I so wish Sherlock was longer than three episodes! I need to get my hands on all the old seasons and watch them again, just to help pass the time! (And, I did get your post and I should respond today!!)

  2. Welcome to having older kids!! Younger ones are demanding in their own way, but it's all the activities of older kids that will take over your life without you realizing it. Good luck (although coaching basketball sounds like a blast and who doesn't love Girl Scout cookies)!

    BTW, do you ship? ;)

    1. Michelle S ... I always thought it would get easier as they got older. Boy was I WRONG!! :) It's fun though, so I guess that makes up for it!!

And, yes, I would totally ship!! Already have to for the grandparents!! :)

    2. Things definitely don't get easier, but that's okay, right?

Hmmm, I'll have to talk to my husband. I might be sending you an email.

  3. Glad to hear that coaching isn't a nightmare, but actually fun! And yea for Girl Scout cookies! I could never sell very many because the Campfire Girls always started their cookie drive the week before and cornered the market in my neighborhood. :(

    1. Alexia561 ... They don't actually encourage door-to-door selling much anymore. I have a feeling most of my daughter's sales will come from cookie booths at Walmarts, local grocery stores, etc.

  4. It's the end of the week as I get to this, so that's how my week went. :) I hope you're still doing well health-wise and otherwise, even with all the Girl Scout cookies and the coaching.

We're still watching Sherlock. We haven't gotten to the third episode of Season 3. Maybe today. Still have Downton Abbey to catch up on too, but really loved Sherlock so far. Can't wait to see the third one.
