Sit Down & Write 4

Sit Down & Write 4 is coming and it cannot come at a better time.  I will be starting my first real week of writing full-time ... well, not quite full-time, but it is a LOT more time that I have ever had before.  All this begins Monday!  And, I am so excited!!

What is Sit Down & Write?
The Sit Down and Write write-a-thons are for any writing you need to get done.  If you're working on a novel, a novella, or even short stories.  If you have a ton of reviews to write coming off of any read-a-thons you might have just finished with, then this is for you too!  Any writing you need to get done ... this is the time to really buckle down.

What are the official dates?

Monday, August 26 @ 12:01 AM CST -- Sunday, September 8 @ 11:59 PM CST.

What will I be working on?

I have a long list of goals, but I cannot wait to start tackling them.  The list includes things for here on the blog as well as pieces for freelance gigs and finally my first attempt at writing a novel.  In the past, I have written short stories, essays, and lots of poetry.  I have always wanted to venture into the land of novels, but have never really had the focus or the time.  This year provides me an unique opportunity to do just that!  Yippee!!  Now, for the list . . .

  • Catch up on reviews.  I have a number of reviews already written that need typed and scheduled here on the blog.  I also have a few more from recent reads over the last week that I need to write and get scheduled here as well.  At the time I type this, my count stands at 10 reviews in the former category and 5 in the latter.
  • Freelance.  I have a couple of ideas that I need to get on paper.  I also have a list of other freelance options that I want to explore to expand my horizons.
  • Journaling.  I have really fallen off the horse of journaling since I moved.  I want to get back in the habit of journaling at least three times a week, if not five.  It could serve as a great warm-up, a way to work through things on my mind, and to document and preserve.
  • Novel Writing.  I have a notebook with a list of ideas.  Some of these ideas are more developed than others.  Some are connected in one way or another, and others are stand-alone images or thoughts that I have no idea how they relate in any way.  I plan to review these ideas and begin mapping out or outlining to get a firmer view of what shape they may take in the long run.  I may or may not dive into specific word count goals at this point.  I will keep you posted via a check-in post as the tasks progress.

Whew!  The list looks short, but those are some pretty BIG tasks within each bullet!  Wish me luck!

Are you participating in Sit Down & Write 4?  What will you be focusing on?

  1. I'm not doing this write-a-thon, although it sounds tempting, I have other things that I should be focusing on right now. Best of luck with your writing!

    1. J. Kaye Oldner ... Only time will tell how things really go, but I'm excited to dive in. I may have some interruptions in the middle of the event to set me back, but I'm going in with the hopes of getting to all of these.

  5. I hope your writing is going well. Sorry I have been so out of the loop. I made a serious error in scheduling this during end of the month for work. I was so busy with work last week that I was also working at night in order to use up my client's hours before end of month. Hopefully, I can get some writing in this week.

    1. Michelle Miller ... I started out on a good foot, but things slowed way down. BUT, I'm feeling good about this week. Maybe we can both make up for it this week?!? :)
