Can you believe it is already August?!?

ON READING

I have not been reading as much as I would like, but it is more than I have been!  I will take the improvement!  Over the last week, I finished reading Montana Chillers:  13 True Tales of Ghosts and Hauntings by Ellen Baumler and started reading Haunted Montana by Karen Stevens.  Can you see a theme?!?  I am reading through a few books I picked up while on my road trip back to my home state of Montana!!

The one reading challenge that I have signed up for this year was the Goodreads Challenge (see my right-hand sidebar for updated info!) and I was shooting for a total of 75 books for the year.  According to my current status, I am 23 books behind schedule!  I knew this was going to happen with the first part of the year being so chaotic, but I hope to get back on track the second half of the year!  For this reason, you will be seeing some sign-up posts for a couple of upcoming read-a-thons!  It's time to get lost in a few books and now is the perfect time to do so!

What are you currently reading?  How is your reading for the year so far?

ON BLOGGING

Blogging has been close to absent over the last month, but things are about to change!  I will be working on catching up on reviews this week and generating other content for the blog for the weeks to come.  I am very excited about this now that I have more time on my hands.  In fact, I started back to it earlier today with an announcement post for my upcoming read-along of The Shining with Charleen from Cheap Thrills:  a book blog!!!  I cannot wait to revisit this one after a very long time!!

Will you be joining us for the read-along?  What is happening in your blogging world?

ON WRITING

Writing is another thing that has been close to absent these last couple of months.  As soon as I get caught up on a few household items and the blog here, I will be back to writing.  I have a few freelance options that I will be pursuing as well as doing a bit of writing for myself.  Progress may not be happening here for another week or so, but I will be working on organizing myself to get back into writing again!

How has your writing been going?

ON LIFE

Life is starting to slow down and get back into a routine.  Almost all boxes are unpacked.  Many will remain packed, including many of my books, because we will only be here for another 11 months.  However, my house is becoming our home and the only thing lacking is a few pictures on the wall.  That should be taken care of this week.  I miss my house back in Saint Louis.  I miss my friends.  I miss my kids having friends.  I miss a LOT!  BUT, I am trying to remind myself that this is my year of DISCOVERY and I need to take advantage of it.  I have moved before and things have always worked out.  I know it will eventually work out here too.

I register the kids for school this week!  This is good news!  I look forward to getting back into a routine with my kids and having them (and me) meet friends of the same age.  I have never been so excited for my kids to start school!!  And, let's be honest, I love the back-to-school shopping!!

How has your life been treating you?  Are you excited for the back-to-school season?

  1. Answering you here, Tif, to let you know that I moved 18 months ago and somehow still have some things boxed or worse, missing presumed lost! But I know for me that moving meant an excellent time to get rid of STUFF, yes, even books, and I feel the better for it. (However, I am VERY glad I'm not moving again in 11 months!)

    1. Susan Stephenson ... So good to hear from you!! I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one with boxes and sadly, I am still missing stuff though I swear I have gone through all the boxes!! We did do a LOT of downsizing, but I always have a hard time getting rid of books. I only got rid of about 4 boxes when it was all said and done!
