Monday Maunder: July 29, 2013 (Home Again!)

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

After a lot of debating, I finally decided that it was time to come home a few days early from my trip.  Here's a quick recap in numbers ....

27 days on the road
6 states
4000+ miles (3000+ driven by me!)
2 tired, but happy children re-united with their daddy
1 very exhausted mama, excited to be home with her hubby and her own bed!

The highlight of the trip was getting to spend so much time with family, particularly in an RV through Yellowstone and the ghost towns of Montana.  I also got to visit my undergraduate alma mater, attend my aunt's book club, eat my grandmother's fudge, and share priceless other memories with my children.  Despite my exhaustion, it is a trip that I will never forget and am so thankful that I was provided this opportunity to spend so much time on the road.  (Don't forget to take a peek into a few of my adventures over at Tif Talks Books & Beyond!  I will be continuing to post my pictures there as well as other things that may peak my interest!)

Since arriving home, I have been working to unpack boxes, sort out boxes that will remain packed for the move in approximately 11 months, and get organized.  At the time that I type this, I feel that I have accomplished about 75% of the work and hope to be completely settled by Saturday night.  For this reason, you will continue to see little or no posting here on the site.  Starting next week, I will be back at it and posting on a more regular schedule once again.  I may or may not go back to my old Monday Maunder format.  That I have not yet decided!

I cannot sign off without also sharing some of my latest reads.  I finally finished Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke!!  I also finished And The Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini and am currently in the middle of Montana Chillers:  13 True Tales of Ghosts and Hauntings by Ellen Baumler.

What have you been reading?  Any breaking blogging or literary news that I may have missed?  What do you think about my Monday Maunder format - should I go back to the usual format or just continue to ramble as I have the last month while traveling?

  1. I was just sadly looking at Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell on my "to read" pile thinking I really need to get it read one of these days. I look forward to your review.

Your trip sounds fantastic. I have never been on the great American RV trip west and I hope to do it with my kids one summer when they get a bit older!

I'm glad you had safe travels, good luck with the packing!

    1. Laura's Reviews ... I hope to have the review posted very soon! Since it is one of the more recent books I have read, I will probably review it sooner rather than later!

The trip was fantastic! BUT, I will probably not do it again for a couple of years. It was exhausting ... but memorable!!! :)
