ON READING

What a great reading week thanks to the Spring Horror Read-a-thon hosted by Michelle of Seasons of Reading!!  I posted an update on my progress earlier this week, but here is the overall stats for your enjoyment . . .

Books Read
Y:  The Last Man - Deluxe Edition Book Three by Brian K. Vaughan
Y:  The Last Man - Deluxe Edition Book Four by Brian K. Vaughan
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Total Pages Read:  1001 pages

I am very pleased with the results of my reading this week!  Now, I need to just get caught up on my writing!!

Tonight, I will be starting Y:  The Last Man - Deluxe Edition Book Five by Brian K. Vaughan, the final book in the series.  I am not sure what I will read next though.  I guess we will see what I pull blindly off my shelf!

How was your reading week?  Did you participate in any of the read-a-thons around the blogosphere this week?

ON BLOGGING

Obviously, blogging has been minimal lately.  I am hoping to pick things up in the weeks to come.  I will leave you with one thing I did post about this last week:  the schedule for Armchair BEA 2013!  I am very excited about this agenda!!

What have you been blogging about these days?

ON WRITING

Writing has been minimal as well, but I am hoping to pick this up as well.  In fact, I am hoping that Sit Down and Write 3 hosted by Michelle of Stories Inside (the one and the same as the one behind Seasons of Reading I mentioned above!).  The challenge does not start until Wednesday, May 1, so I will be back then to share with you my specific plans for the two weeks of writing.  I really need to sit down and write out a to-do list of what I want to accomplish!

Will you be joining us in the writing challenge?

ON LIFE

I am still waiting to sell my house.  Lots more people have seen the house, but still no offers.  We even held an open house, complete with fresh flowers and fresh-baked cookies.  So, we continue to wait.

This last week also marked my father's birthday ... the first one since his death.  This week will actually be the first anniversary of his death.  Needless to say, these two weeks have been and will continue to be difficult.  It is the very reason I want to get lost in my reading and writing.  Though, I have taken a day of vacation for this day and will be doing something to remember him by.  I haven't decided what yet because I am not geographically close to my family, but I will figure something out.

Lastly, I continue to countdown to my last day of work.  With the vacation day that I am taking this week, it brings me to 13 days left of work.  Woohoo!  This is my positive this week!!

What were the highs and lows of your week?

  1. Oh Tif, I know it's difficult. Hold on to the good memories. I'm on the opposite end. No one mourned my father's passing this year. He was a horrible father, leaving behind a son that never dealt with the abuse. Not sure if gratitude will help ease the loss, but I think of my kids. How much better for them to have a father they share with verses how I grew up. Not caring, not mourning the loss is a sad state of being.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble there. On a more positive note, yah about work! You're taking off for the summer right? Do you have a set date when you're moving?

    1. Amateur Novelist ... You have a very good point. My father and I had our differences, but I still miss the man terribly. I want and need to do something in his honor.

I am taking off more than just the summer! Since this move will only be temporary, I will be doing freelance work for the next year and focusing more on my writing!! I am so excited for it! We move no later than the end of June, but then I am going on a road trip with my kids for a while. In fact, I will be posting more about that in the weeks to come!!

    2. Okay, I'm totally confused. You're coming back to St. Louis. And you're taking off to write?

    3. Amateur Novelist ... I get confused too, and I'm the one living it!! :) We are moving to Iowa for one year and I will be devoting my time to writing. After one year, we will be moving someplace else, but we don't know where yet.

    4. Okay, that makes sense and I had no clue. Not sure how I missed this, but I so did.

Wow! A year for writing. That is so awesome--seriously awesome!

  2. You did get some good reading in last week! I'm glad you enjoyed the read-a-thon. Hope you will join us for High Summer in July.

I'm SO not ready for this write-a-thon tomorrow. I mean, I'm ready, but my mindset isn't quite where it should be. My week has been wanky so far. =O/

    1. Michelle Miller ... Thank you!! I love the week-long read-a-thons! I'm not sure if I can join in this July. I may be traveling during that time, but I will definitely keep you posted!

I'm hoping to have my list posted of what I hope to accomplish for the write-a-thon later tonight!! I'm not quite ready either!!
