Monday Maunder: November 26, 2012

Why is it the Monday after a long break is so darn hard?!?  You would think with the extra rest that you would be ready to take on the week!

ON READING

As I previously mentioned, I participated in the Thankfully Reading Weekend!  I posted a quick update yesterday to share where I stood and honestly, I am just going to be posting all the same stats for you below.  I realized yesterday that I had a number of things I needed to complete before heading back to work after a long weekend, so my reading went by the wayside on the final day of the event.  That's okay though!  I was pleased with my results until then!!  Here they are in case you missed them:

Pages Read:  517 pages

Books Completed:  3 books

Titles of Books Completed:
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
Cardboard by Doug TenNapel
Fables #8: Wolves by Bill Willingham

What's up next?!?  I am currently in the midst of the first Sandman graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and then I plan to jump into the spin-off of Fables called Jack of the Fables by Bill Willingham!

ON WRITING

This week marked the second half of Sit Down & Write 2.  Sadly, my writing did not go as well this last week because of the above mentioned read-a-thon!  I am hoping to continue with my writing goals that I originally posted, however, because I would love to start off on a new foot for the new year that is quickly approaching.

ON LIFE

I had such a pleasant Thanksgiving weekend!  I read a lot.  I spent some great time with my family.  I took the kids to a movie and watched a few here at home. I ate some wonderfully yummy food.  And, I got in some great relaxation after a very busy semester at work.  Overall, I would consider this a great success!!  Now, I am off to read and sleep some more.  Sadly, the first day back to work after a long weekend has left me completely exhausted!!

Did you have a nice relaxing weekend, whether you celebrated a holiday or not?  Are you beginning to think about your upcoming goals for 2013 yet?

  1. The Monday after a holiday break is always tough, as we just don't want to get back into the swing of things.

Hope you're loving the Sandman books, as Neil Gaiman rocks! If it makes you feel any better, didn't too very good with my Sit Down and Write goals either (but I'm still counting it as a success!).

    1. Alexia561 ... So glad I am not alone!! In fact, I'm still struggling!! :)

I just finished the first Sandman book this last week. I don't love it like I do other graphic novels, but I am definitely intrigued and excited to read the next one in the series!

And, it's better to do something than nothing at all for Sit Down and Write!! :)

  2. How you people with kids sit down and read 517 pages in a weekend BLOWS MY MIND.

I mean, I have no kids and I can't sit down and read 40 pages before my mind switches off and I have to do something else. I am so in awe of people who can just sit down and read. Please, lend me your magic. :)

My upcoming goals for 2013 are as follows: 1) keep up with my blog, 2) keep writing my book, 3) read as much as I can, 4) love my friends, family, and my man, and 5) live in the moment as much as possible and stop worrying about the future.

  3. Okay, call me the odd duck, but no, I find Mondays wonderful, especially after a busy holiday or weekend.

As far as 2013, I'm already starting my list!
