Monday Maunder: September 17, 2012

Prepare for a short maundering this week!

ON READING

Still reading Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness, though I did sneak in The Walking Dead:  Book Six because it was due back to the library.  I couldn't renew it and I've had way too many fines lately!  I am determined to finally finish Shadow of Night this week though!!

ON WRITING

I have not had a lot of major writing this week, but I have had some!  I have been journaling most evenings (this feels so good), have done a bit of editing, and wrote a few pieces for the blog.  Someday I will figure out how to balance reading, writing, and life ... or, at least cut down on the other activities to squeeze in the first two!!

ON LIFE

Activities for my kids started this week, and they both had a blast!  I had so much fun watching them, but this week I am going to try to get in some reading while I watch!  I was really hoping for a reading-filled weekend, but I decided to get out in the cooler weather and take my kids exploring instead.  I had a great time and took tons of pictures!  Once I go through them all (literally hundreds!), I will get some scheduled for Foto Fridays!!  I have really enjoyed getting back into photography after a few years away from it!!

I'm leaving my maunder at that for this week!  I'm tired and I'm off to hopefully get in a bit of both journaling and reading before I go to bed!

Tell me:  What are you reading this week?  Have you ever wanted to get completely lost in a good book, but "life" just keeps getting in the way?!?

  1. I'm reading BEL CANTO by Ann Patchett.

Yes, it happens all the time that I can't read a book for more than short spurts at a time because I have to work full time and do household duties. The only time I can get lost in a book is when I read in bed and don't fall asleep.

    1. techeditor ... I've heard such wonderful things about that book! So glad that I am not alone in my lack of reading time (not my desire!)!

  2. My favorite book this week is an audio book by Patricia Briggs titled "Masques." I've been listening to it much as techeditor describes, in bits and pieces. Come to think about it, that's how I read all the time now. I remember the days when I'd go to bed early so that I could read undisturbed. Haven't experienced that in two or so years. Man, things have changed...lol. I'd love to take off a day and just read, but my life has changed too much for that. No doubt when the kids are gone, I will again.

    1. Amateur Novelist ... Oh how I would love a day to devote solely to reading!! I'm lucky to get in 15 minute intervals these days, though this last weekend I did read for a few hours at a time thanks to a few late nights. And, I paid for it the next day too!! Can't do that very often anymore!!

  3. Life always gets in the way of my reading! I have recently been reading Insurgent, but it felt like it took forever to get through it because I was also in the process of moving. Good luck getting in more reading and writing!

    1. Megs ... Totally understand the lack of reading during moving! It is so hard to get anything done when you are in the middle of that. Good luck!! :)
