Guest Post: Sherlock Holmes and a Most Irregular Tea Party

I am excited to bring back Liz Shipe today for a very special guest post!  Liz originally introduced us to her project, Reconstructing Grimm back in March 2011, sharing some beautiful photography in honor of the 2011 Fairy Tale Challenge.  Today, she shares some exciting news for the project.  So exciting, in fact, that I turn it all over to her right NOW!

"What one man can invent another can discover" ~ The Adventure of the Dancing Man by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle through the voice of Sherlock Holmes

Hi there Tif Talks Books Readers;

My name is Liz Shipe, I am a Milwaukee based artistic director, writer, and actress. A few years ago I started a photo series called Reconstructing Grimm, we did photographic versions of fairy tales in a modern setting. The series went so well, it grew and started getting published and featured in gallery shows. When we started picking up steam Tif was kind enough to let me do a guest post, and now she's letting me do another to keep people in the loop about what we've been doing.

Reconstructing Grimm is doing it's first full length show in collaboration with Milwaukee Entertainment Group, it's a version of Sherlock Holmes. It has been picked up for The Entertainment at the Mansion Series located at The Historic Brumder Mansion in Milwaukee, WI.

Coming in September 2012 is a brand new interactive Murder Mystery play. Join the Baker Street Irregulars at the home of Sherlock Holmes for an action-packed party hosted by Mrs. Hudson, and help Sherlock and Watson solve the unexpected mysteries of the evening and keep the streets of London Safe!

We will be doing a video blog for the process called From Page to Stage featuring video footage from our auditions, callbacks, table reads, costume designs, production meetings, opening night, and talk backs. It will delve into the entire complicated process of creating a play from scratch and all that comes along with it. You can see photos of the cast and production team and the progress of the project at http://www.reconstructinggrimm.com/

For this project we will be creating an interactive immersion into the world of Sherlock Holmes as we envision it. We will be performing at the Brumder Mansion, a beautiful Victorian Era mansion which was built by George Brumder the Billionaire German Publisher back in 1910, the exact time that Sherlock Holmes was written to live in. This mansion was also run at one time as a Speak Easy by notorious gangster Sam Pick and his brother Ed. Our performance dates are listed below. For more information about the mansion please check us out at http://milwaukeebedbreakfast.com/ or to by tickets visit http://milwaukeeentertainmentgroup.com/

Best of luck to Liz and the rest of the Reconstructing Grimm team!  If I were closer to the area, I would be there.  If you are in the area, be sure to check it out and please help to spread the word.  I cannot wait to hear how the shows go!!
