Monday, Monday ... Where does the time go?

ON READING

Reading is going well these days!  I finished Diary of a Wimpy Kid #4:  Dog Days by Jeff Kinney last week as well as Fables #6:  Homelands by Bill Willingham.  I am currently reading Acts of Faith by Eboo Patel.  It is actually a book that I started years ago and finally picked up to finish.  I'm not sure why it took me so long because it truly is a fascinating and easy read.  What's next on the list?  Probably Blackout by Mira Grant.  I just cannot ignore this book any longer!  I have to know how the trilogy ends!!

It has been a long time since I posted an update on my 2012 Reading Challenges, so here is a quick check-in . . .

The first few challenges I am pretty happy with, but the last two I really need to get working on.  I have had a difficult time getting back into audio books for some reason, but I have picked up one I started earlier this year (Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson) in the hopes of getting back into the audio groove.  I guess we will see how it goes.  And, I think I can finish the last one as long as I pick my books wisely.

ON WRITING

Writing is going slowly, but it is at least present!  I have a couple of reviews written, but many more to go.  I am trying to work on these a little each day.  For some reason, I feel like I have to catch up on these before I can start my fun writing again.  I'm not sure why, but I plan on working hard this week to get all caught up and everything scheduled.  The good news is that I finally posted my first review in almost three months this last week.  I consider that progress!

ON LIFE

I am going to limit this area to just two items . . .

First is the winners of my blogiversary giveaway:  Anita, Anastasia, and Sherri!!  Congratulations ladies!!  Please do not forget to email me within 48 hours or I will be drawing new winners!

Second and far from least is the OLYMPICS!!!!  In case you are living in a hole, the Olympics are currently playing in the background as I write this and I must really get back to watching them before getting some sleep.  I am definitely cheering on Team USA, but I am really enjoying watching any and all of the athletes.  They simply amaze me and I love seeing all of their hard work pay off.  My personal favorite sports to watch are volleyball, gymnastics, and swimming, but I am happy watching any and all events!  I know that there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the opening ceremony, particularly what was aired here in the USA; however, from what I saw, I was truly fascinated with my favorites being the literary references and spotlights.  What a beautiful touch to an amazing night!!

I'm off to watch some more of the games and read on the commercial breaks!!  Have a great week!!

Tell Me:  What are you reading this week?  Or, is your reading suffering as you watch your favorite Olympic games?  If so, what are your favorite games to watch?

  1. No, suffering over the Olympics. It's BBC/Masterpiece theater DVDs that has me obsessed right now. I'm hoping to get some reading done tonight though. Two books came in. One is "Fallen Masters" by John Edward, the medium who hosted Crossing Over or I think that was the name of his TV show. Loved his nonfiction books and heard he does well in the fiction writing department. My next one is "Jane, The Woman Who Loved Taran" by Robin Maxwell, which I've started on. Only read a couple of pages before one of the kids came in the office. Hopefully, I'll read more later.

You've had a good week. A little writing is fine. Better than no writing...lol.

I love your attitude, by the way. We think alike!! :)

  2. Eek! I just remembered! I forgot to tell you that I got Dogsbody, um...a while ago. Thank you so much! I love that it's an older copy-- I read the author blurb and it's weirdly hilarious to see DWJ listed as the author of "several" books for children, lol. :D
