Armchair BEA 2012 is Here!

If you have not yet heard all the hype surrounding Armchair BEA, you are missing out!  Monday kicks off the BIG week-long celebration, and I am excited to again be a part of the event that was voted the Best Blogging Event of 2011 by Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW).  For those who are unaware of this event or those who want a refresher, I am going to keep with tradition by providing you with a FAQ!

What is Armchair BEA?

Armchair BEA was created in 2010 by five book bloggers who were disappointed in being unable to attend one of the largest literary events of the year, Book Expo America (BEA).  From this disappointment, creativity abounded and the beginnings of Armchair BEA were born.

During this first year, 150+ fellow bloggers participated in the event.  Last year, the second annual event, grew in leaps and bounds, drawing more than 600 participants and a list of sponsors that was beyond imagination.  This year, we celebrate our third year of Armchair BEA from the comfort of our own homes, and we still continue to improve and grow, signing on as official partners with Book Expo America and BEA Bloggers Conference.

Who are the creators and organizers of Armchair BEA?

I cannot highlight Armchair BEA without mentioning the wonderful crew behind the madness!  I may be a bit biased since I am a part of the original group, but let's be honest ... I am a better writer, blogger, reader, and person because these people have come into my life through Armchair BEA!

Amy of My Friend Amy (joined the team in 2011)
Pam of Bookalicio.us (original founder)
Chris of Chrisbookarama (joined the team in 2011)
Emily of Emily's Reading Room (original founder)
Florinda of 3 R's Blog (original founder)
Julie of My 5 Monkeys (joined the team in 2012)

Seriously, if you are not familiar with any of these bloggers, click over right now!

What can I expect from the week of Armchair BEA?

You can expect a LOT!

The first thing you can expect is a different topic that is related to books and blogging every. single. day.  I am really looking forward to the topics this year because it will be a nice balance between blogging for newbies and for veterans.  For details, be sure to check out the official agenda announcement!

As in past years, you can also expect a LARGE number of giveaways happening all over the place!  We have the featured giveaways that are brought to you by a multitude of sponsors, featuring publishers and authors.  Prizes are given to those who participate in the daily topics I discussed above, but also through the Twitter parties scheduled throughout the week (keep reading for more info on these!).  We also have a special day (Tuesday!) where participants from around the globe will be hosting their own giveaways on their blogs and linking up on the Armchair BEA site.

This year, you can expect THREE different Twitter parties ... daytime, evening, and late night ... to help in including all our participants spread across the world.  This is a great time to be a part of a real-time discussion about all things books and blogging!

We will also be bringing back vlogs and special reports from our on-site correspondents.  Last year, Emily's vlogs were some of the most popular and I cannot wait to see what her and the others have in store this year!

Last, but definitely not least, you can expect behind-the-scene views and vlogs from the week in New York!  Last year, I loved seeing exclusive author interviews and pictures of the publisher booths.  I cannot wait to see what they have in store for this year!

I am so excited after reading about what is in store!  How can I get involved and stay up-to-date on the latest Armchair BEA news?!?
