Walrus Report: Getting Wicked with Gregory Maguire

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending an event featuring one of my all-time favorite authors ... Gregory Maguire!  For those who do not know Maguire, he is the author of a number of books with many having a fairy tale spin, and his most well-known being his first adult novel, Wicked:  The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.  I have attended an event with Maguire before, so I thought I knew what to expect.  Needless to say, he just kept on pleasantly surprising me with his talent and wit.  I don't want to give away too much information here, so I recommend that you click on over to the Walrus Publishing website for the full fangirl experience!

Are you a fan of Maguire?  If so, what is your favorite piece of his work?

  3. I've never gotten up the courage to go to one of his local talks/signings. He's just so amazing that I think I would probably burst into tears when I was standing in front of him. Wicked is amazing and I also love Lost, which I've read a couple of times now.

  4. Kristen M. ... He is so personable! I would totally recommend that you see him. He is entertaining and when I chatted with him personally during the signing (brief as it may be!), he was so friendly! I didn't like Lost as much as some of his others. Wicked is definitely one of my faves EVER!
