Reading Log Roundup: August 30, 2010

I've decided to try out a new feature this week!  Since my son has started Kindergarten, we are required to turn in a reading log at the start of every week featuring five books that we have read together.  I have not been reviewing every book that I read with my children and the log we turn in does not capture all of our reads by far; however, I thought it would be fun to share a few titles of the books that I am reading with my children.  Hence, the birth of Reading Log Roundup!  Let me know what you think and if you want the feature to continue!  And, suggestions are always welcome!

That's Good, That's Bad by Margery Cuyler

What have you been reading with your child?

  1. Oh my gosh, Sweet Pickles books! I had the entire series as a kid, and my kids have them somewhere. What fun that you are reading them with your kids!

  2. I second Michelle! Sweet Pickles books! My mom still has quite a few on the kidlit bookshelf in the basement. Makes me want to go find one and read it.

Maybe you could give like a thumbs up or down for the books? Or maybe a quick quote from your son about what he thought? That would be cute.

  3. Last year, Z's Kindergarten teacher handed out a reading log for the month of September but then stopped after that for some reason! I would love to see what you are reading with the kiddo. :)

  4. Well, sort of. When she's reading in bed, I'm reading in bed. ;)

  5. Michelle . . . Wow! I had no idea that Sweet Pickles was so big! In fact, I don't think that I have ever even seen them before! So very sad! Now I need to see what else I can find of them!

Rebecca :) . . . GREAT idea!! I will add something like this next week! Thanks!!

Kristen M. . . . I really hope that the teacher continues with it! I do have issues that they promote 20 minutes every night, but only have 5 titles to list . . . but that is just my soap box!! :) I will continue with this feature and see where it takes us!

    J. Kaye . . . I think that totally works! Now that my son can read a bit, I've been doing that with him as well!!

  6. I've never heard of Sweet Pickles books.

I agree that a little note about each book would be great.

My daughter's in 5th. Right now we're reading The Wickit Chronicles and listening to The Series of Unfortunate events. I talked about the first one on my blog a few days ago.

  9. janflora . . . I'm so glad to hear you enjoy this idea!! It's fun to keep track for his class and I only hope it continues to last all year long! And, The Pet Dragon is seriously cute! It includes Chinese characters incorporated into the pictures and is absolutely gorgeous!!
