Choose My Next Adventure

I have recently been basking in my many piles of unread books, and trust me, there are many of them!  As I explore (and maybe pet!) these books, I have discovered that I have many in a series that I have not yet read or partial series that I've really been meaning to get to.  I have not really read a full series recently and I think that it is about time!  Afterall, what is better then turning the final page of a book and knowing that I can still jump right back into the adventure without quite saying good-bye just yet!

However, I have a problem!  I have so many stinkin' books that I have decided to provide you with a partial list and you get to vote on my next grand adventure!  I have narrowed my selection down to ten for convenience purposes and have included the first sentence from the first in the series.  Read through the following choices and then click on the link below to vote.  I will read the series with the most votes during the month of August!

Now, for my choice of adventures . . .

The Sisters Grimm:  The Fairy Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley
"I'm going to die of boredom here, Sabrina Grimm thought as she looked out the train window at Ferryport Landing, New York."

The Spiderwick Chronicles:  The Field Guide by Tony DiTerlizzi & Holly Black
"If someone had asked Jared Grace what jobs his brother and sister would have when they grew up, he would have had no trouble replying."

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
"Rain fell that night, a fine whispering rain."

Sookie Stackhouse:  Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
"I'd been waiting for the vampire for years when he walked into the bar."

Frankenstein:  Prodigal Son by Dean Koontz
"Deucalion seldom slept, but when he did, he dreamed."

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
"It happened every year, was almost a ritual."

The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
""You seem to be a mass of contradictions," Dr. Washburn said."

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz
"I duck into the parking garage, hoping to escape."

Wicked:  The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
"From the crumpled bed the wife said, "I think today's the day.  Look how low I've gone.""

Septimus Heap:  Magyk by Angie Sage
"Silas Heap pulled his cloak tightly around him against the snow."

Now, click on the link below and vote!!

Last, but not least, I also want to throw a big thanks out to my book-ish friend, J. Kaye for conversing and recommending many of these books to me!  I know that I can always rely on you for some great literary chat!

  1. Read Charlaine Harris's Dead Until Dark!!! I'm on book six right now, and there have been some ups and downs in the series, but it's definitely picking up again.

Can't wait to see what others say!

  2. Becky . . . Don't forget to vote using the link to my form above! It makes it easier for me to tally in the end because the spreadsheet does it all for me!! :) On another note . . . I've heard a LOT about this series!! Whether I read it this time around or not, I'm excited to read it sooner or later!!

  3. I voted for the Sister's Grimm, a great series that I can not put down. I just read book six or so myself.

However, I was very tempted to vote for the Spellman Files, a very funny and entertaining series. The only reason i didn't is because I think this is a series that is best enjoyed with breaks in between books. You'll get very tired of them if you read all of them in one month.

  4. Tough choice, as you have quite a few really good series here! I voted for the Bourne books, as I can't resist a good thriller. Whatever you wind up reading, hope you enjoy!

  5. Mark . . . Thanks for voting! Sister's Grimm will fit in nicely with my current weekly feature, Fairy Tale Fridays! Who knows, depending on the winner, I may be able to fit two series in during the month!

Alexia561 . . . Thank you!! It's really interesting watching the results! I can't wait to see what I end up reading!!

  6. You might have seen that I just started The Sisters Grimm and I loved the first book. The Spiderwick Chronicles were good from beginning to end. I loved Inkheart but the second two books were only okay. I have The Spellman Files in my TBR pile. And I need to re-read the Wicked series because I haven't gotten to the Lion book yet and it's been too long. I need to refresh!

You have too many good series here!

  8. Kristen M. . . I know!!! That is why I'm having you all vote!!! :) I did not see that you started The Sisters Grimm, but that is because I am horribly behind on my blog reading! I'm slowly working on it this week, but will definitely catch up next week since I will be on vacation!! Woohoo!! I can't wait for some extra reading time!!

    J. Kaye . . . LOL!! Funny thing is . . . there are about 4 or 5 of them that are really close or tied right now!!! I am surprised by the votes and can't wait to see which one wins!!

  13. Dragon Tattoo. Hands down. But I'm probably a little biased in that I'm almost done with book 2 in the series and planning to start book 3 next week :)
