The Book List: 3 Characters I Love To Hate

Rebecca over at Lost in Books has recently started a new weekly meme called The Book List. The point of the meme is to come up with 3 titles that pertain to the weekly topic. For more information, check out this week's meme here.

This week's topic is 3 Characters I Love To Hate. After much thought (I really have been racking my brain all day on this one!), I have come up with my list . . .

Severus Snape of The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling: No matter the truth about this man, I love, love, love to hate this man!! Seriously crabby, greasy, dark, and hateful!!

Lord Voldemort of The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling: He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is just pure evil!

Edward Cullen of The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer: No hate mail on this one please!! I will not deny that I have enjoyed these books just for the sake of the quick, fun read, BUT Edward just simply annoys me to no end! There is some redemption by the end of the series, but the annoyance of the character and the excitement of his fans is still so very present for me to add him to my list!!

What characters do you love to hate?

    1. I definitely love to hate Lord Voldemort -- especially as the series wears on! And Snape, too, although I somehow had a soft spot for him from the beginning...

And Edward? Well, I do like Edward :) But I totally see where you're coming from! :)

    2. Excellent choices! Loved Snape as he was such a thorn in Harry's side and you were never quite sure if he was a good guy or a bad guy.

And Edward? YES! Couldn't stand that sparkling little whiner! *ducks rotten tomatoes* *L*

    3. Oh - fantastic post! And the Edward part cracked me up... LOL

I would really have to think about my "hate list"

    4. Hmm ... Snape might have to be on my list too. Good list!

    5. Totally agree about Severus Snape. He makes such a great evil guy, but is he really evil?

    6. Meg . . . I knew that many would disagree with me on Edward!! But, that's okay . . . I'm hoping it won't affect our friendship too much!! :)

Alexia561 . . . Glad to know that I am not the only one ducking!!

Sheila (Bookjourney) . . . I would be curious to know who would make your list!

Kristen . . . I checked out your list. Sadly, I only knew one! If you add Snape, I could claim 50%!!

      Rebecca . . . Thanks! Great meme!! :)

      J. Kaye . . . His image sure portrays evil during the majority of the story!! But, you do speak the truth . . . was he really evil? I believe that I didn't actually use that term for that very purpose! I said dark and hateful! I think those can be interpreted multiple ways!! :)

    7. Tif, That was me actually asking a question. I haven't read the series and have only watched the movies. I still haven't seen the end yet. ;) I've begged the kids not to tell me and have avoided the press and reviews.

    8. J. Kaye . . . *GASP* You have not yet read these books?!?! OMG!!! You totally have to!! Okay, you don't HAVE to, but I highly recommend it!! They are my faves for sure and I've read them multiple times!!

As for your question . . . I still don't think I've given anything away! Is he evil? I will leave that up to you to decide once you know more details! However, I'm sure you have gathered his darkness and hate, particularly towards Harry, if you have seen the movies! And because of that, he is so much fun to hate!!! I can't even stand the voice of his character in the movies (though I think it is perfect for the character!)!! Anyways, I could go on and on, but I will leave it at that . . . at least for now!! :)

    9. Tif, I tried when book one came out and just didn't like her writing style. Sorry, I know I am the strange one here, but I just didn't like it - not even on audio. I love the movies though. And the kids all loved the books.

    10. I've heard this from quite a few actually! I had a friend that couldn't get into them either because of her writing. Her and her husband decided to start at Book 3 and then they were hooked. I believe that the writing definitely gets better as you go. But, no worries . . . I *think* I will be able to forgive you if you don't ever end up reading them! Afterall, it seems we do agree on quite a few other things to make up for it!! ;)
