WISH LIST: Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Tom Lichtenheld

Description (from Duck! Rabbit! website): Why do people love Duck! Rabbit!? Well, first it's funny. The kind of funny that works whether you're 5 or 75. Second, this confused little critter was born in a 19th century psychological drawing used to discuss issues of perception and reality (and the philosophy of Descartes). And yet, it's awfully cute. Intrigued? We hope so. And whatever it is, we think you'll love it as much as everyone else does.

Recommendation: Parents magazine June 2009

Special Notes: Checked the book out from the library, but a must-have for lots of ongoing fun for ALL of us!!

  1. I love this book! My sister is an art teacher and she uses this one at multiple grades when talking about perspective, imagination, and optical illusions. It's such a cute, fun book!

  2. lisa :) . . . I agree!!! It is so much fun to use with kids and I just read it with my own! I'd be curious to hear more about how your sister uses it!! I would love more ideas!

  3. She teaches art for K-5 so depending ont he grade level it's either mostly a read aloud or with more discussion. I know she usually starts by drawing the picture and asking what they see (duck, rabbit, or something else?). There are some other really neat optical illusion picture books that she has too, but I can't remember the names of them.

  4. lisa :) . . . If you ever remember them, please share! I'm working on compiling some ideas for a younger kid's book club and this one would be so much fun!! Thanks for the ideas!
