Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl is one of the most well-known authors for young readers of our time, with such popular titles as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, and Matilda. My most recent Dahl pick was Fantastic Mr. Fox, a thin book that offered up a fun little read.

Meet Mr. Fox, a cunning animal that tricks three local farmers in order to feed his family. The farmers get fed up and decide to take on Mr. Fox themselves, if it is the last thing they do. Who knew that this decision would affect the rest of the animals in the forest? Who knew that they would all band together to ensure their survival? And, the end result can only be the result of Mr. Fox . . . a truly fantastic Mr. Fox!

It's a cute little read, with amusing illustrations. Not the best of Dahl's work, but still good!

On another note, did you know that this movie is set to be released this year? I had no idea!! It has a huge cast of famous actors, ranging from George Clooney and Meryl Streep to Owen Wilson and Bill Murray. Check out the video here on YouTube. I found my son and I laughing quite often just at the preview! I think this may be one I will be hitting the theater with the kids over Thanksgiving weekend. It shows a lot of promise!

Last, but not least, did you know that September is Celebrate Roald Dahl Month? I encourage you to read a book by this infamous author, visit the website devoted to him, or discover how you can celebrate the official Roald Dahl Day!
