Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

When you read, you oftentimes imagine the characters coming to life in your mind. Now, imagine if as you read, the characters actually come to life and appear in your very own living room! Wouldn't that be an amazing, but scary talent all at the same time? Of course, the downside, in order for something to appear from the story, it would have to take the place of something in your real life. Would it ultimately be worth it? This book examines these such thoughts in such a fun and easy read! If you love to read and love books in general, this is one pick for you!

The author creates such an endearing story within these pages, writes about books that were so easy for me to relate to, and mixes the fantasy and reality so well! I can't wait to read the sequel, Inkspell! For those of you interested, here are a couple of links for you:

Just for you other book lovers out there, I do have to share this passage from the book. It completely hits home for me!

"If you take a book with you on a journey," Mo had said when he put the first one in her box, "an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it . . . yes, books are like flypaper - memories cling to the printed page better than anything else."

So, just an example . . . on my honeymoon is where I first read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Whenever I begin to read that book again and again, I still can smell the salty sea air and remember the happiness of spending time with the man that I love . . . and, of course, him complaining because I was reading on our honeymoon instead of spending quality time with him!! I gotta love this man!! He totally gets me and our sarcasm keeps our marriage alive still today! :)

Do you have any books that carry with it so many memories? If so, please share! You don't have to share the details, but I would love to hear at least the books!
