Mommy I Have To Go Potty by Jan Faull

This book was recommended to me by my friend Jodie. Those of you who know her have probably already read her review of the book, but I thought that I would reiterate her love for this book by sharing what I thought as well!

In the last toilet training book that I reviewed, I felt that it gave some great explanations on the topic, but felt that more of the practical side was lacking on many issues. In Mommy I have to go Potty, Faull completely makes up for everything that I felt was lacking in the previous book and more!! I seriously loved this book!!! For those like me that are potty training for the first time and have no clue where to start or what to do next, this is just the book for you! Faull starts with the basics, works her way up to more complicated issues, and even shares real-life stories from parents who have been there before us. I love that she gave step-by-step examples of the potty training process and for what to do if things do not fall completely into place (i.e., children who urine train easily but not bowel train or vice versa). Though I know that not all the steps will probably fit my son's approach, I now have a better foundation of where to begin and continue on with the process as a whole. There was also a special chapter completely devoted to rewards, both social and tangible, when to use them, and how to use them. I have always been awry about using rewards, but this completely cleared up my questions. Overall, I felt that this book was very helpful and I now feel much more confident as my son wades through this stage of his life (and lately, I'm beginning to feel that this is exactly what he is doing!). And, to top things off, the book was a super easy and quick read!

Thank you again Jodie for such a great recommendation! You know that I'm always up for hearing more suggestions from you! :)

  1. I am so glad that you liked it!! Good luck with Potty Training. I can safely say that Nora is completely day trained. We are not rushing into night time training because we have a family history of bed wetting- one step at a time! This book was a great help to me. Keep it close because it is great to grab as you are training and a situation pops up you don't know how to handle!!
